Getting Ready for the Nutrition Challenge, 10/1/12-10/31/12
NUTRITION CHALLENGE
What: At Carlsbad CrossFit, we are going to hold our first ever nutrition challenge.
When: 1 Oct 2012 – 31 October 2012.
Why: Nutrition plays the most important role in a healthy lifestyle. It is the foundation upon which we are able to support our physical activity like CrossFit and other sports. By cleaning up your diet, you should experience a lot of health benefits that will make you look at food differently (in a good way!). Benefits include but is not limited: to increase in mental clarity, increase your performance in the gym, increased energy throughout the day, and weight loss.
How to participate:
1st. Choose a diet: Paleo, Zone or both.
Paleo: Eat Meat, Vegetables, Nuts, Seeds, little starch, some fruit. Do not each: Grains, Rice, Legumes, Dairy, Sugar, Artificial Sugars.

Zone: Control your food portions utilizing the “Zone” ratios. (40% of total calories from Carbohydrates, 30% from Protein, 30% from Fat). Use this guide to help:

2nd. Post your participation in the challenge. In order to hold each other accountable, please post if you will be participating and what your SMART goal is for this challenge. Remember you want your goal to be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound.
So for example, my goal is to lose 5 pounds and to lose 1″ off of my body measurements. I will weigh myself and take body measurements before the challenge starts and I will be following the Paleo diet doing 6 days on and 1 day off until October 31.
The posting and review of goals, combined with the support of our team will improve everyone’s chance of successfully completing their personal goal.
3rd. On Wednesday, September 26th @ 7:00PM Rick will discuss the diets and answer any questions about them.
