Philanthropy runs through CrossFit’s veins and we have another great cause to share with you. CrossFit HQ is raising money to better people’s lives in Kenya. The Hope for Kenya initiative raises money to provide people with access to water, food, and education. In the past year, CrossFit HQ has built 2 schools, a water system that provides clean water, and desks for the village of Dzendereni. These small things we take for granted make a huge difference for the people in Kenya.
“School walls of sticks and mud have been replaced by concrete, cinderblock and tin roofing, making the schools virtually indestructible. The partnership between CrossFit and the citizens of Dzendereni has impacted nearly 1,500 people, driving elementary school attendance up by 50 percent, raising test scores and providing the cleanest water these children have ever drunk.”Courtesy of the Hope for Kenya website.
All of the CrossFit Affiliates are working together to raise money for this great cause. Through your efforts, the money raised will be used to better the lives of people in over 20 villages in Kenya. Donations are being accepted through the Hope for CrossFit website. You can donate and raise money as an individual or you can sponsor Carlsbad CrossFit.
100% of the proceeds go to Hope for Kenya and the money is used to build schools, water cisterns, school supplies, etc. Before construction begins, the village must raise 10% of the funding. This is to create a shared goal between the village and CrossFit and create a lasting difference. One school costs $14,000, a water cistern $3,500, and a desk is $30. Any amount makes a big difference to the people in Kenya.
